4th Grade Judaica--Ms. Freedman

Due 12/17 (for students who were absent on Dec 10)

1. In today's lesson we reviewed the story of Hanukkah and the meaning of Hanukkah or "dedication".

2. Each student received a Hanukkah Vocabulary Word List to go into their 3-ring binders.

3. Remember to light the first candle in your Hannukah menorah (Hanukkiah) beginning, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at sundown.

4. Remember to say the 3 blessings over the candles the first night of Hanukkah (include the Shehecheyanu blessing) and each night thereafter you only have to say 2 blessings

5. Please remember to bring tzedakah, food items and Box Tops for Education to class each week.

 

Due 12/10 (for students who were absent on Dec 3)

1.The students learned about the three key concenpts of Judaism: Torah, prayer and acts of loving-kindness.

2.The students also learned about the two categories of mitzvot: mitzvot between people and mitzvot between people & God.     

3. If your child was absent please have him/her read the first half of Chapter 6, pages 38-40 in our text book Building Jewish Identity Book #1 Our Community.

4. If your child was absent please have him/her complete the chart called "All Kinds of Mitzot found on page 39 in our text book.

5. If your child was absent please have him/her answer the two questions at the top of page 40 under the paragraph "The Importance of Caring" and answer the two questions at the bottom of page 40 under the paragraph called "Welcoming Guests".            

6. The students had a visit from some of their "Buddies" from Morah Renae's room and everyone listened to a Hanukkah story and made a Hanukkah craft.

7. Please remember to bring tzedakah, food items and Box Tops for Education to class each week.
