Our Director: Jessica Nanus
After graduating from Ithaca College with a B.A. in both Studio Art and Art History, Jessica pursued her Master’s of Professional Studies in both Childhood and Special Education at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. While attending her dual degree master’s program, she taught both the 3’s and 4’s at the Early Childhood Center at Community Synagogue of Rye. She also headed three of the school’s enrichment programs. While teaching at the ECC, she also taught both Judaic Studies and Hebrew at both Community Synagogue of Rye and Woodlands Community Temple to 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th graders. Jessica also spent much of her time working one-on-one with students who had special needs outside of the classroom as well, playing a vital role in WCT’s special education program.
For the past six years of her teaching career, in addition to her being the Pre-K Head Teacher, Jessica has also become a resource and support to parents both in and out of the classroom, helping them to advocate for their children as they journey through the special education process in various districts around Westchester, NY. Additionally, for the past three summers, Jessica has also been the Assistant Director of The Field Club of Greenwich Day Camp in Greenwich, CT. Jessica is married to Daniel Matulich.
Our staff of early childhood educators are selected for their unique talents, nurturing qualities, and their pdassion for early childhood education. All of our teachers are required to enroll in workshops and conferences to stay abreast of current trends and practices in the field of early childhood development. We are licensed by The State of New Jersey Department of Children and Families and are associated with the Jewish Early Childhood Association, and the Union for Reform Judaism. We are affiliated with the vibrant Reform Jewish community at Congregation Adath Emanu-El.
